Paint. Collage. Yarn. Fabric. All asking me to trust in the exploration into unknown territory…

A found message in a musical hymnal – “Showers of Blessing” …

A wave of gratitude washes over me when I journal onto the page all of the blessings in my life. My home, my family, friends, kind strangers, warm blankets on cold nights, my health, creative expression, love. Most definitely love …

A sense of accomplishment at the end because I actually really like the final piece. Everything turned out well in the end, like it always does in art and in life. I remember that trust in the process and trust in myself are all that I need when I feel unsure and uncomfortable. It all works out in the end… always.

Art has a way of pushing me into new areas of exploration. A muted, earthy color palette is new for me. Adding fabric, strings, and textured yarns is a departure from my normal go-to art techniques. You may wonder “What’s the big deal?” My answer is simply this… It’s uncomfortable to try new things. I have no idea what will happen next, or how it will turn out, and yet I push myself to keep going.

This is how you tap into your intuition and begin to trust yourself.

Pushing yourself in an art journal is a safe space to grow. Little did I know that the more I practiced it here, the more I would practice pushing myself out in the real world.

My confidence grew. My willingness to try and <gasp> fail grew. Simply put, the more I flexed my bravery muscle, the braver I grew.

These are all the reasons why I am passionate about helping others to do the same.
